One of Sheffield’s ‘most wanted’ criminals to be sentenced over heroin, crack and cannabis offences

Mohammed Anwaar, aged 31, was convicted in his absence of conspiracy to supply heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis after a trial at Sheffield Crown Court earlier this month.

He went on the run after he was arrested over his involvement in the supply of drugs in Sheffield and then later released under investigation.

Anwaar, of no fixed abode, has been listed as one of South Yorkshire Police’s ‘most wanted’ for months.

He failed to turn up for his trial and was found guilty in his absence of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, concealing criminal property and possession of cannabis.

Five others involved in the drug gang he ran have already been sentenced after being convicted of their parts in the supply of over £100,000 worth of drugs across Sheffield.

Tabassum Mohammed, 27, Shazad Hassan, 22 and Zahide Parveen, 50, all of Holmhirst Way, Woodseats, Sheffield, were each jailed for two years.

Mohammed and Parveen were both found guilty of concealing criminal property and converting criminal property and Hassan was found guilty of concealing criminal property and possession with intent to supply cannabis.

Luke Padley, 28, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and possession with intent to supply cannabis at an earlier hearing but failed to attend court to be sentenced and was jailed for five years and two months in his absence.

Nilopher Kauser, 29, of Holmhirst Way, Woodseats, was jailed for two years and eight months after pleading guilty to concealing criminal property, converting criminal property and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Anwaar is due to be sentenced tomorrow with two other members of the drug gang – Arsalan Hussain, 30, of West View Lane, Totley, Sheffield and Gemma Doherty, 34, of no fixed abode.

Hussain pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs and converting criminal property and Doherty pleaded guilty to concealing criminal property and possession of a prohibited weapon.
