One man hospitalised and another arrested as police swarm to Sheffield Cineworld

A man has been hospitalised after going into cardiac arrest at Sheffield Cineworld last night (February 28).

Six police cars, six ambulances and a police van were seen at the cinema at Valley Centertainment last night.

Witnesses reported seeing ‘police and blue lights everywhere’ as they were leaving the scene.

Police were responding to an incident involving a man who had taken ill, and also arrested another man while they were at the scene for possession of drugs.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “Emergency Services were called to Valley Centertainment shortly after 8.30pm yesterday evening (Friday 28 February) to reports that a man was in cardiac arrest.

“A man in his thirties was taken to Northern General Hospital, his condition is not believed to be life threatening.

“A 35-year-old man was arrested at the scene under suspicion of possessing a class B drug. He remains in police custody”
