OAP aged 73 attacked in Goldthorpe

A pensioner aged 73 has been seriously injured in a street attack.

Detectives are appealing for information after the assault on Market Street in Goldthorpe, Barnsley. The man had just left The Horse and Groom pub when he was hit from behind by a thug.

He fell to the ground and suffered a serious neck injury. The attacker was white, in his 20s, with a slim face. He was wearing a three-quarter length khaki army style coat.

The assault happened at 11pm on June 19, but police have only now released details.
