The faces of nine perverts and child sex-offenders who have been jailed in South Yorkshire

Police and judges have captured and recently punished a number of offenders at Sheffield Crown Court relating to their involvement in sex offences concerning youngsters and children.

Below are some of the more serious sexual offence cases to have passed through Sheffield Crown Court recently involving direct attacks on youngsters, attempts to meet children or relating to the possession of indecent images.

One offender was jailed after he was found guilty of rape and sexual assaults and another offender was locked-up after he molested a 13-year-old girl as she walked home from school.

Another pervert was put behind bars after he was caught at a hotel with a missing 14-year-old girl, and others have been brought to justice after they have been trapped by decoys posing as youngsters online.

One released offender was put back behind bars after he failed to comply with a Sexual Offences Prevention Order.

Judges have seen fit to punish these offenders with custodial sentences while making them subject to Sexual Harm Prevention Orders and placing them on the Sex Offenders Register so they can be monitored on their release from custody.

Pictured is Alun Haynes, aged 41 when sentenced, of Athelstone Road, Doncaster, who was trapped by police after communicating sexually online with officers pretending to be boys. Sheffield Crown Court heard in May how Haynes pleaded guilty to attempting to engage a boy in sexual activity, attempting to engage a boy in sexual communication and attempting to engage a boy to watch a sexual act, in relation to one decoy. Haynes admitted attempting to engage a boy in sexual communication and to attempting to engage a boy to watch a sexual act, relating to the second decoy. Haynes was sentenced to three-years of custody and placed on a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for ten-years.

5. Alun Haynes

Pictured is Alun Haynes, aged 41 when sentenced, of Athelstone Road, Doncaster, who was trapped by police after communicating sexually online with officers pretending to be boys. Martin pleaded guilty to failing to inform the authorities of two new addresses in Sheffield, illegally using an iphone and failing to register a phone with the authorities and he admitted taking voluntary work without authorisation as well as failing to comply with notification requirements by failing to register a bank card with police. Martin had originally been jailed for sexual communication with a child and attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming. Martin was sentenced in April to 16-months of custody.

Sheffield Crown Court heard in March how police trapped Hurt after an officer posed online as a 12-year-old girl. Hurt admitted five offences including: attempting to meet a child after sexual grooming; attempting to cause or incite a girl to engage in penetrative sexual activity; attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child; attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act; and to breaching an SHPO by deleting phone messages. Hurt was sentenced to six-years of custody.

Pictured is Andrew Carter, aged 50, of HMP Moorland, who was given a further custodial sentence after he tried to make contact with a vulnerable under-age girl with whom he he had previously had sex, Sheffield Crown Court heard in July. Carter was originally sentenced to six years and eight months of custody for five counts of penetrative sex. Despite being prohibited from contacting the girl, who was aged 14 at the time of the original offences, he phoned and wrote to her. Carter pleaded guilty to the breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and he was sentenced to 16 months in custody which will be added to his current sentence.

8. Andrew Carter

Carter was originally sentenced to six years and eight months of custody for five counts of penetrative sex.
