NEWS IN BRIEF: Three arrested over car crash

A MAN cut free from a car after he was knocked unconscious in a smash with a police vehicle and a number of other parked cars was later arrested.

He was one of three men in the blue Audi A3 which crashed on Ashgate Close, Broomhill, Sheffield, just before 4.40am on Wednesday.

Police said the driver of the car had ignored a police request to stop.

Three people in the car were taken to hospital by ambulance before one was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.

Anyone with information should South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 138 of August 29.

Sewer repairs

GRANGE Lane in Stairfoot, Barnsley, will be closed in one direction next weekend while sewer repairs are carried out.

Traffic will be prevented from travelling from Stairfoot roundabout towards The Black Bull public house only on Saturday, September 8, and 9 and again on Sunday, September 16. A diversion will be in place.

Stolen car found

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to woodland off Raeburn Road, Gleadless Valley, Sheffield, after a car was set alight.

Crews were called to the blaze at 9.05am yesterday.

A police investigation is underway.

Burglars hunted

POLICE in Sheffield are trying to trace burglars who broke into homes on Guest Road, Hunters Bar, and Wake Road, Nether Edge, after both properties were left insecure.

They were targeted on Tuesday and Wednesday last week.

Quad bike stolen

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched into the theft of a quad bike from Nicholson Road, Heeley, Sheffield, overnight on Wednesday into Thursday last week.

Call South Yorkshire Police on 101.

House boiler taken

A POLICE probe is underway into the theft of a boiler from an unoccupied house on Gleadless Road, Gleadless Valley, Sheffield, last weekend.
