NEWS IN BRIEF: Man charged with woman’s murder

A MAN is due to appear in court today charged with the murder of a Sheffield warehouse supervisor.

Czech national Martin Vernarsky, aged 24, of Claywood Road, Sheffield, is charged with killing Hungarian national Ildiko Dohany, 34, whose body was found next to her car on Claywood Road, Norfolk Park, in September.

Ildiko, of Kenninghall View, Sheffield, had lived in the UK for three years.

Thieves take 4x4

POLICE are looking for a Nissan 4x4 stolen from outside a house on Helmton Road, Woodseats, Sheffield. Anyone with information is asked to call 101.

Arson at club

AN outbuilding was set alight behind a social club on Bellhouse Road, Shiregreen, Sheffield. Firefighters tackled it.

Car set alight

A MAZDA on a car park on Dearne Road, Dearne, was set alight in an arson attack. Firefighters extinguished it.

Furnace scare

FIREFIGHTERS were called out as a precaution after material fell out of a furnace and set fire to a hydraulic cable. Staff at London & Scandanavian Metallurgical Co Ltd, in Fullerton Road, Rotherham, extinguished the flames.

Burglar takes car

A CAR was stolen from Sturge Croft, Heeley, Sheffield, after the house it was parked outside was broken into. Police are investigating.

Home ransacked

BURGLARS forced a door and ransacked a house on Raeburn Road Gleadless Valley, Sheffield. Police are investigating.

Saturday closing

Bolsover Council is to close contact centres at Bolsover, Clowne and Shirebrook on Saturdays from next month to save money and make more staff available on weekdays.
