NEWS IN BRIEF: Man arrested over drugs after search

POLICE have charged a motorist with possessing drugs with intent to supply after officers stopped a car on the M1 and found a substance believed to be cocaine.

The 32-year-old was arrested after roads policing officers carried out a search of the vehicle near Junction 31 at Aston, at 11.30am on Saturday.

Man stabbed

A MAN is in hospital after he was stabbed during an attack on Blackstock Road, Gleadless Valley, Sheffield.

Police were called to the incident shortly after 3am on Sunday but yesterday the 27-year-old victim had not been well enough to be interviewed.

He is being treated at the Northern General Hospital.

Patrols stepped up

PATROLS have been stepped up by police in Sheffield following a series of shed break-ins at allotments on Marsh Lane and Crookes Quarry.

There were three reported burglaries on Thursday, June 7.
