A PILOT fearful he was about to crash land at Robin Hood Airport brought his plane down without problems.

An airport spokesman said: “Emergency services were called on Wednesday evening as a precaution following contact from a twin engine light aircraft pilot who reported a potential undercarriage problem. The aircraft landed safely without incident.”

THE police helicopter located a car which had given officers the slip after being chased through Netherthorpe and Sheffield city centre. Officers in the air tracked down the car and directed officers on the ground to its whereabouts. Two arrests were made.

A VAN carrying diesel and petrol went up in flames as it was being driven round the roundabout between Eckington Way and the A57 in Waterthorpe on Wednesday morning. Firefighters said the van was engulfed in flames.
