NEWS IN BRIEF: Con trick alert as shopper is fooled

POLICE have issued a warning to Sheffield shoppers after a man was defrauded.

The incident took place in Haymarket, Sheffield, at around 5pm on Friday.

The victim was shown a computer device and mobile phone at a discounted price and purchased them, but he was given a package containing water instead.

Police have warned the public against buying discounted goods from unreliable sellers.

Anyone with information is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 referencing incident number 757.

Woman trapped

A WOMAN became trapped in a vehicle following a three-car crash.

The incident took place at Mansfield Road, Hasland, Chesterfield at around 1.25pm on Friday.

Firefighters from Chesterfield and Clay Cross stations work to free the woman from the wreck before ambulance crews took her to hospital.

Missing man found

MISSING man Gregory Mellors who disappeared from a Doncaster shopping centre has been found safe and well.

Mr Mellors, a patient at Cheswold Park Hospital in Crimpsall, near Doncaster, disappeared while on a shopping trip to the Frenchgate Centre but was found on Saturday, a South Yorkshire Police spokesman said.

Fraud charges

Detectives investigating an online fraud case have charged four men. The men, all aged 36 and from South Normanton, near Chesterfield, have been charged with conspiracy to create articles for the use in fraud, conspiracy to possess criminal property and conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation.

Burglar hunted

The SOUTH Yorkshire Police helicopter was dispatched on Saturday to help officers on the ground track down a burglar near the Woodfield Plantation in Balby. Officers continued the search after the helicopter was called away on another job.

Car suspects held

THREE suspects were arrested in Worrall, Sheffield, at 3.45pm on Saturday after they abandoned a vehicle which failed to stop for officers. Officers on the force helicopter assisted from the air.
