SOUTH Yorkshire’s new Chief Constable, David Crompton, is preparing to take up his new post on Monday next week.

He moves from West Yorkshire Police, where he was the force’s deputy chief constable before his promotion earlier this year.

The South Yorkshire post has been filled on a temporary basis by Deputy Chief Constable Bob Dyson, who took over in October following the retirement of Chief Constable Med Hughes after seven years at the helm.
