TWO men arrested over the murder of a father-of-two in Sheffield have been bailed pending further enquiries.

The pair, aged 19 and 22, were arrested on Tuesday and Wednesday in connection with the death of 27-year-old Joshua Green, who was stabbed to death on the dance floor at the Stars and Mayfair Suite on Queens Road Sheffield.

Joshua, of Manor Park, was attacked in the early hours of New Year’s Day after calling at Stars where an all-ticket R’n’B party was being held.

He had been at the venue for less than 40 minutes when he was knifed.

The suspects released on Thursday night have to report back to a police station in March as part of their bail arrangements.

Detectives investigating his death plan to spend the weekend trawling through hours of CCTV footage from in and around the club.

All the footage from the venue has been handed to the major incident team.

Detectives would like to identify all 434 revellers in the venue on the night but, so far, people have been reluctant to come forward.

Police are stressing that information can be given in confidence, to encourage people to tell officers what they saw or what they know.

Officers working on the case are also looking at how the murder weapon used in the attack was able to get into the party venue when there was a knife arch in operation on the door.

An inquest into Joshua’s death has been opened and adjourned pending the outcome of the police probe into the incident.

Detective Superintendent Andy Thompson said: “We’re progressing with the investigation and have identified a number of people who were at the party in which Joshua Green was stabbed.

“However, this will take some time due to the number of party-goers present.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101, the incident room on 0114 2963159 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
