A murder probe is continuing following the disappearance of a Chesterfield man.

Detectives launched the investigation following the disappearance of 71-year-old Graham Snell.

Derbyshire Constabulary said that following a call reporting Mr Snell missing on June 30, officers began making enquiries in and around the Chesterfield area and are now treating his death as murder.

Mr Snell was last seen alive in Chesterfield town centre on Wednesday, June 19.

A 29-year-old Chesterfield man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remained in police custody last night.

A second man, a 31 year-old, also from Chesterfield, has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Officers have sealed off Mr Snell’s home in Marsden Street, close to Chesterfield town centre, as part of the investigation into his disappearance.

Officers have also conducted enquiries in Oakamoor Close.

Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious, or out of the ordinary, in those areas between Wednesday, June 19 and Sunday, June 30.
