Murder investigation launched as woman dies after reported Sheffield stabbing

Police have launched a murder investigation after the incident in Richmond at 10.30pm.

South Yorkshire Police issued a statement this morning revealing they were called to Ravenscroft Place, Richmond after receiving reports that a woman had been stabbed.

The 55-year-old woman was taken to hospital but died shortly after 11.30pm.

The statement added: “A 36-year-old man and an 41-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

“An investigation is now underway and the woman’s family are being supported by specially trained officers.

“We are urging anyone with any information about the death to contact us. Please call 101 and quote incident number 1202 of 4 June.”

Last month it was reported knife crime has risen by more than half in South Yorkshire since 2015 – but fewer than one in seven offences are being punished.
