Murder investigation launched in Sheffield after police called to city flats

A 30-year-old man is in police custody after being arrested overnight on suspicion of murdering a man who was found on a Sheffield street.

Emergency services were called at around 2.15am this morning (Sunday, November 15) to reports of a man laid in the street on Club Garden Road in the Highfield area of the city.

Upon arrival, a 28-year-old man was found with serious injuries.

He was taken to hospital but was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.

There is a police presence and cordon at the scene while officers carry out their initial enquiries, and this is expected to remain in place for some time.

Formal identification and a post-mortem examination is expected to take place later today.
