O’Brien and Currie appeared at Sheffield Crown Court this morning.

No pleas were entered during the short hearing but Judge Jeremy Richardson QC told the pair: “You must furnish the court, each of you, with a defence statement on May 18.

“If you don’t, it can, in certain circumstances, be held against you.”

Judge Richardson set a provisional trial date for October 5 and remanded the pair into custody.
