Officers from the Sheffield North East neighbourhood policing team said all five drivers “will be prosecuted for a variety of driving offences and will subsequently face bans, points and fines” following the confiscations in Fir Vale on Sunday (24 May).

It is the latest issue police have been forced to deal with in the area following multiple reports of residents breaching lockdown restrictions, fly-tipping and fighting in the street.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “That’s five vehicles off the street that create risk to the community.”

The confiscations were made on Popple Street, Hinde House Lane and Firth Park Road. Police said one driver tried to run away but was caught, while others tried to hide and deceive officers by lying.
