Motive for New Year's Day killing in Sheffield not yet known

The senior detective leading the police probe into a New Year’s Day murder in Sheffield has revealed that the motive ‘isn’t clear’.

Isaiah Usen-Satchell, aged 18, was stabbed to death during an incident on St Aidan’s Road, Norfolk Park, at around 4.20am on Wednesday, January 1.

South Yorkshire Police said officers were deployed after reports of a fight between a group of men.

Injured Isaiah was taken to hospital with a number of slash wounds to his arms and legs but could not be saved and died later that morning.

A post mortem examination concluded that a knife injury close to his wrist proved to be the fatal wound.

Detective Chief Inspector Jude Ashmore, leading the murder probe, said although the motive ‘isn’t clear’, she believes those involved were ‘known to each other’.
