More searches planned as police efforts to trace missing Barnsley man continue
More searches are planned today as police efforts to find a missing Barnsley man continue.
Richard Dyson, aged 55, who has links to the Elsecar and Hoyland areas of Barnsley, was reported missing on Monday, November 25 by his daughter, who was worried that she had not seen or heard from him since Friday, November 15, when he was in the Aston area of Rotherham.
Mr Dyson was last seen on Sunday, November 17 as he walked towards the A6135 Sheffield Road, Hoyland, at around 11pm.
South Yorkshire Police said more searches are planned in Hoyland today as concerns for his welfare grow.
Temporary Superintendent Mark James, leading the search, said: “It is incredibly out of character for Richard not to contact his daughter who he sees every week, and due to the length of time he has now been missing for our concerns for his welfare are growing.”
“We have a team of officers working to find Richard.
“Please speak to them if you have any information. I’d also ask anyone who has seen or spoken to Richard in recent weeks to contact us.”
Richard is about 5ft 10ins - 6ft tall, slim and has short, grey hair.
He is believed to have been wearing a navy blue waterproof Kappa jacket with white stitching detail when he was last seen.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts or possible sightings should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 459 of November 25.
