More fires started deliberately in South Yorkshire overnight

South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue were forced to deal with yet more deliberate fires overnight as members of the public continue starting illegal fires across the county.

The service dealt with no fewer than nine incidents in the county between 8.30pm on Thursday and 7am on Friday, of which they believe only one was not arson.

It comes after they dealt with five suspected arson incidents the night before.

Fire crews were called to an incident in Grimethorpe during the early hours on two separate occasions after a rubbish fire in a skip was started once again after initially being dealt with.

Elsewhere, firefighters tackled a blaze on Holmes Lane, Hooton Roberts for more than one hour after they found 14 bales of hay “well alight.”

Crews also dealt with a car set alight in Doncaster, as well as fires involving old furniture and several instances of loose rubbish being set alight.
