John Roberts was reported missing from the Fulwood area yesterday afternoon and was found later in the evening.
Concerns were raised when Mr Roberts, who also uses the name Selwyn, vanished after leaving his home on Hangingwater Road at around 2.30pm.
A police search was mounted for the OAP and his photograph and description were circulated in the hope that members of the public would spot him.
