Michael Sellers: Face of Sheffield man suspected of killing woman he stalked in ‘murder-suicide’

Michael Sellers, aged 35, is believed to have killed 23-year-old Gracie Spinks before taking his own life in a murder-suicide case.

Gracie’s body was found in a field off Staveley Road, Duckmanton, at around 8.40am on Friday, June 18.

Paramedics attended Gracie could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Just over two hours later, the body of Sellers was found in a nearby field off Tom Lane, Duckmanton.

Derbyshire Constabulary said: “Officers believe that Gracie, who was from the Chesterfield area, was killed by a man she knew, who was later found dead. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the two deaths.

“Specially trained officers are supporting Gracie’s family at this time.

“There has been a lot of speculation in the community in recent days as to what happened that day and we are working to find answers for everyone involved.

“We can confirm that the force has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct because we had contact with Gracie earlier this year.”

There has been speculation that Gracie had contacted the police over stalking concerns but the force said it had not issued a restraining order.

Gracie, who was a 6ft part-time model, is believed to have been killed while tending to her horse.

She reportedly met Sellers at the e-commerce firm Xbite Limited in Barlborough, where they both worked.

Friend have spoken out to suggest Sellers stalked Gracie and had become a ‘pest’ and ‘nuisance’.

One told The Sun he used to turn up at the stables where she kept her horse after becoming obsessed after a date.

The friend said: “He became obsessed with her and wouldn’t leave her alone.”

Gracie’s mum, Alison Heaton, paid tribute to her ‘beautiful daughter’ in a Facebook post.

She said she had been ‘taken away from me, her dad and brother and sister and everyone who loved and cared for her’.

She posted a photograph of her daughter with the words ‘Stop violence against women’.
