EAGLE-eyed residents concerned about thieves operating in their communities are being urged to tell police what vehicles they believe the culprits are using.
Officers in the Highfields and Ecclesall areas of Sheffield have had an increase in reports of lead and scrap metal thefts and are urging local people to help them catch those responsible.
A spokesman said: “The price of scrap metal has increased dramatically, making it a lucrative market for thieves.“
Anyone concerned about vehicles used to remove metal from properties should log details of the vehicles used, including the registration.
They should also record the number of people in the vehicle, their ethnicity, age and clothing.
Information can also be passed to police on 101.
