Mentally-ill Sheffield man armed himself with knife during dispute

Sheffield Crown Court heard on November 16 how Shannon Palmer, aged 25, of Abbeydale Road, Sheffield, had been in dispute with a man and a woman before he approached them with a knife.
Eddison Flint, prosecuting, said as a result of a previous incident the man went to Palmer’s house to confront him about an alleged threat.

Hide AdMr Flint added the man and woman had feared for their lives after Palmer had subsequently approached them with the knife.
Palmer, who has mental health issues, pleaded guilty to possessing a bladed article in public after the incident in August, 2019.
Judge Michael Slater acknowledged Palmer is now receiving assistance and support after he had been in unsuitable accommodation.
He sentenced Palmer to a two-year community order with a Rehabilitation Actvity Requirement.
