A Sheffield Crown Court trial was halted after six men admitted playing a part in an armed robbery on a terrified Sheffield family’s home.

Shoaib Nawaz, Sarhan Ahmed, Sohail Nawaz, Mohammed Samir Nawaz, Harris Nawaz and Osman Ahmed Bakri have all pleaded guilty to offences following one day of the conspiracy to rob trial.

In the early hours of August 8, 2013, a masked gang armed with knives stormed into the Yasin family’s home on Willoughby Street, Page Hall, and stole a case stuffed with £35,000 in cash.

The raid is thought to have come about after two teenagers were showing off to each other about their families’ assets.

After one of the young men reportedly claimed he would inherit cash kept at his grandparents’ home, the other, Harris Nawaz, told his older brother Shoaib and a plan to steal it was concocted.

Shoaib Nawaz, 26, in custody and Osman Bakri, 27, of Flockton Court, admitted robbery.

Mohammed Samir Nawaz, 20, Harris Nawaz, 18, Sohail Nawaz, 24, all of Earl Marshall Road, admitted conspiracy to steal.

Sarhan Ahmed, 23, of Whiteways Road, admitted assisting an offender.

They will be sentenced on June 23.
