Aseel Al-Essaie was fatally shot at point-blank range as he sat alone in a stationary white Mercedes on Daniel Hill, Upperthorpe on February 18, 2017.

Aseel’s sister's engagement party was taking place in a house nearby when he was killed.

In the weeks following his death a memorial to him which read “Rest in Peace, Bro” alongside his date of birth and death was painted on the side of Red Monkey Tattoo Studio –which has since shut – close to where the incident happened.

But, as the third anniversary of his murder approaches, it has been vandalised. Grey paint appears to have been splattered over his face with the ‘Rest in Peace’ message also scrawled out.

In 2018 three Sheffield men were found guilty and sentenced to a total of 90 years in prison for Aseel’s murder.
