Man who harassed ex-partner is given a community order

A man who harassed his ex-partner by calling her in the night has been given a community order.

Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on January 15 how Paul Brown, aged 38, of Goosebutt Street, Rotherham, admitted breaching a restraining order.

Rob Coyne, prosecuting, said Brown had been convicted for assaulting his ex-partner and her son and was given a restraining order but phoned his ex-partner three times about 1.50am, on December 1.

He pleaded guilty to breaching the restraining order in Sheffield and admitted breaching a conditional discharge originally imposed for a previous breach of the order.

David Lawson, defending, said Brown is addressing alcohol issues and the probation service stated he has been engaging with them.

Brown was sentenced to a 12-month community order with a rehabilitation programme. He must pay £85 costs and a £90 victim surcharge.
