A man who fell from a rooftop in Rotherham has told police he was assaulted.

The 30-year-old was found injured after falling from the roof of Mr Soap's Hand Car Wash in Bramley on Sunday, January 25.

He has been in hospital since the incident and has only recently been able to communicate with police officers.

Detectives investigating his allegation that he was assaulted before the fall quizzed a 27-year-old man after arresting him on suspicion of assault.

He has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Becky Straw said: “We appreciate that we are asking the public to remember something that happened many months ago, but the allegation of assault has only recently come to light.

“We believe that the hand car wash was open and, by all accounts, quite busy that morning and it’s on quite a busy road in Rotherham so I’d ask anyone that lives or travels through that area to cast their minds back.

“If you can think of anything that might help us with our enquiries, please do get in touch.”
