Man stabbed near Sheffield nightclub

A man was stabbed in an attack outside a Sheffield nightclub.

The 34-year-old was knifed near to the Electric Box nightclub in Charter Square, Sheffield city centre, in the early hours of Sunday.

South Yorkshire Police said the victim was stabbed in his chest during the incident.

He was taken to hospital, where he is in a stable condition.

A police probe into the attack is underway, with detectives appealing for witnesses to get in touch.

It happened between 3.50am and 4.10am.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “A 34-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by an unknown person near to the Electric Box nightclub.

“The 34-year-old suffered a serious stab wound to the chest that required hospital treatment.

“He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

“Enquiries into the assault are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the local area at the time of the incident.

“Did you witness the assault? Did you see any suspicious behaviour?”
