Man 'seriously injured' after police car chase in South Yorkshire

A man in his twenties has been left “seriously injured” following a police pursuit in South Yorkshire on Thursday evening.

At around 11pm, a silver Land Rover Discovery failed to stop for police on Bawtry Road, Brinsworth. A short pursuit followed before the Land Rover is believed to have lost control on Manor Road and crashed into two parked, unoccupied cars.

The Land Rover is then understood to have collided with the police car involved in the pursuit, which was stationary at the time.

A 23-year-old Rotherham man travelling as a passenger in the Land Rover was hospitalised with “serious injuries”. The driver fled the scene on foot and has not yet been identified.

Now officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They also want to hear from anyone travelling along Bawtry Road or Manor Road at around 11pm who may hold dashcam footage.
