Police and firefighters remain at the scene, on Bradley Street in Crookes, where they were called yesterday (Thursday, May 21) at around 5pm after concerns were raised for the man’s welfare.

The man, who stayed on the roof for over 12 hours, has now been brought down after ‘extensive’ police resources were deployed to the area, including specialist negotiators.

Footage taken by one of our reporters this morning show ‘numerous, smashed tiles’ on the pavement in front of the property, the roof of which has been badly damaged and one of its windows smashed.

A battering ram was seen outside the door along with a number of riot shields propped up against the door.

The Star has contacted South Yorkshire Police for more information.
