Man remanded in custody over shop break-ins

A SHEFFIELD man has been charged with four burglaries during which charity boxes were stolen in Sheffield.

Jason Paul Thomas, aged 39, of West View Lane, Totley, is alleged to have committed the offences in the Totley, Highfields and Abbeydale areas.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear at Sheffield Crown Court in January.

Thomas has been charged with breaking into a veterinary surgery in Highfields and the Dore and Totley Vets and the Mohul Indian Restaurant in Totley and Abbey Friar chip shop on Abbeydale Road, Abbeydale.

He is accused of stealing charity boxes as well as cash from tills.

Police are still investigating the theft of charity boxes from a number of businesses in Sheffield, including Totley Library and Totley Deli.
