Man ‘poured petrol in front of Sheffield flat window and set it on fire’ before racing away

An arsonist who started a house fire in Sheffield is wanted by the police.

He struck on Lingfoot Avenue, Jordanthorpe, at 9.51pm on Monday, April 5 by setting fire to the downstairs window of a property in the street.

South Yorkshire Police said he was spotted fleeing the scene of the blaze on a motorbike with a second man.

The bike was later found abandoned.

The police force said: “At 9.51pm on April 5, police were called to a suspected arson attack in Jordanthorpe, Sheffield.

“It’s reported that an unknown man had set fire to the downstairs windows of a property in Lingfoot Avenue. He then left the scene on a motorbike with a second man. The bike was found abandoned nearby.

“Nobody was injured in the incident, however there was minor damage caused to the property.

“Enquiries are now underway to trace the two men involved.”
