a SOUTH Yorkshire man who ‘groomed’ a vulnerable teenager on the internet and travelled to her home town for sex has been jailed for 21 months.
Richard Adrian Frow, aged 45, had sex with the 15-year-old in his car and took her to a football match.
Police examined his computer and mobile phone and uncovered repeated ‘graphically sexual’ contact between the pair and a photograph of the teenager posing topless.
Frow, of Barberwood Road, Blackburn, Rotherham, admitted meeting a child after sexual grooming and being in possession of indecent photographs, including one of the victim.
He was also made the subject of a five-year sexual offences prevention order, must be on the sexual offenders’ register for 10 years and was banned from working with children for life.
Judge Robin Onions said Frow was of previous good character and had a job in a trusted position, dealing with property of high value.
“It is a considerable tragedy that you now find yourself in court for the first time facing offences of this nature,” he said.
The judge said sexual activity had taken place in the defendant’s car, but it was consensual. The teenager refused to co-operate as a witness.
The judge said there had been ‘extensive grooming’ with ‘some determination’ which led to Frow having sex with the ‘vulnerable under- age girl’.
Andrew Barkley, prosecuting, said the girl lived in Shropshire and was 15 at the time of the contact between May and November last year.
He said she had a troubled up-bringing, self-harmed, and had been excluded from school.
She’d made contact on Facebook with a number of older men from different parts of the country – two have been jailed and another two are facing court.
Mr Barkley said Frow knew her age, as there had been references to her school uniform, and had travelled several times to meet the teenager.
Michael Rawlinson, for Frow, said he was working long hours and sought company online due to loneliness and boredom, which he saw as ‘a bit of fun’.
