Alex Fewkes, 20, of Victoria Street, was arrested on January and sentenced to 44 weeks in prison at Sheffield Magistrates court last week (January 31).

PC Paul Briggs from the Sheffield Central and North West Neighbourhood Team said: “On the 19 January, Fewkes broke into Noodle Inn on Westfield Terrace stealing money from the till. He returned the next day and targeted the same premises, taking more cash.

“Unfortunately he was recognised by officers on CCTV and left fingerprints at the scene, so our team arrested him just hours later. He rightly received a custodial sentence for his crimes.

“Commercial burglary is not a victimless crime, especially when independent retailers are targeted. We are working hard to stop it in the city centre.”

Fewkes also admitted shoplifting from a supermarket on Clarkson Street on January 28.
