Man in court over sex attack on 71-year-old Sheffield woman

A man accused of sexually assaulting a 71-year-old woman in Sheffield has appeared in court.

Martin Holmes, aged 52, of Machon Bank, Nether Edge, has had his case transferred to Hull Crown Court from Sheffield.

He is accused of aggravated burglary and two counts of sexual assault at a property in Norton Lees.

Holmes is alleged to have threatened his victim with a knife before stealing jewellery and cash and sexually assaulting her.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Hill Crown Court again for a plea and directions hearing on June 12.
