Man hunted by South Yorkshire Police over theft of two defibrillators

A man is wanted by South Yorkshire Police over the theft of two defibrillators.

The life-saving devices, which can re-start hearts, were stolen from Barnsley town centre within minutes of each other.

The first was taken from outside Barnsley Town Hall at 4.30am on Wednesday, November 27 and a short time later another was stolen from outside Harris and Co on Huddersfield Road.Sergeant Steph Coverley, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “These defibrillators were paid for as a result of fundraising by the local community and they can prove vital in saving someone’s life should they suffer a cardiac arrest.“We have carried out extensive enquiries so far, including the review of both public space and private CCTV but we still need additional information to help us track down the person responsible.”A CCTV image has been released of a man who may hold vital information.
