Man in hospital after being stabbed in the leg during night of violence

A man was hospitalised with ‘serious injuries’ after being stabbed during a night of trouble in a Doncaster suburb.

Police were called to Almond Road, Cantley at 9.21pm on Thursday to reports a man had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, officers located a man in street with serious leg injuries. He was taken to hospital by ambulance, where he remains in a stable condition, a South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.

A 30 year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault. A police cordon was put up on Almond Road while officers investigated the incident.

Later that evening a Mitsubishi Shogun was deliberately set on fire at 11:20pm on nearby Broom Hill Drive. A fire crew from Doncaster station attended the incident and left the scene at 11:50pm.

It is not known if the two incidents are connected.
