Man found with drugs after falling from scooter in Sheffield as he was followed by police

A man was arrested after being found with drugs when he fell off a scooter as police officers in an unmarked car followed him.

South Yorkshire Police said officers started following the scooter, which did not have a rear number plate displayed, after spotting it on the Manor estate.

He fell off the machine while off-roading and then fled.

But officers chased him and the rider was arrested for theft of the scooter, going equipped for theft, possession of drugs, disqualified driving and driving whilst over the prescribed limit for drugs.

He was later released under investigation for further enquiries to be carried out.

Officers are out in force on the Arbourthorne and Manor estates in a crackdown on organised crime.

The operation was mounted after a 12-year-old boy was shot on Northern Avenue, Arbourthone, on Sunday, January 12.
