A MAN has been fined for dumping a sofa and two chairs in Barnsley after he was spotted by a member of the public and reported.
David Randerson, aged 40, was spotted taking the furniture off a flat-bed truck and leaving it on land at the end of Lister Row, Great Houghton.
A members of the public took down his registration details and Randerson was traced and admitted the offence during a hearing at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court.
He claimed he dumped the furniture only because he had taken it to a person in need who turned out not to have room for it. He said he had been told there was a bonfire to be held on the land so he left the sofa and seats to be burned.
Randerson, of Rotherham Road, Great Houghton, was fined £135 and ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge.
