Man due in court over shooting of boy, 12, in Sheffield

A man is due in court today after a boy, 12, was injured in a drive-by shooting in Sheffield.

Devon Gregory, aged 23, of Heeley Green, Heeley, was arrested last Wednesday and charged over the shooting on Saturday night.

He is due at Sheffield Magistrates’ Cout today accused of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

​​Gregory is the second man to have been charged over the incident on Northern Avenue, Arbourthorne, on Sunday, January 12.

Stephen Dunford, 25, of Fellbrigg Road, Arbourthorne, has already been charged with the same offences and remains in custody.

A police investigation was launched after a gun was fired from a car towards a group of teenagers.

The injured boy, who needed surgery, was described by South Yorkshire Police as an ‘innocent bystander’.

Six arrests have been made so far, with five men and one woman all quizzed over the gun attack.
