Man due in court charged with firearms offences after gun incident in Sheffield park

A man is due in court in Sheffield today charged with a string of offences following an alleged firearms incident in a city park over the weekend.

James Cooke, 26, of White Lane, Gleadless, will appear at Sheffield Magistrates Court charged with eight offences after being arrested in Manor Fields Park on Saturday.

He has been charged with affray, assault by beating, section 47 ABH (actual bodily harm), S20 GBH (grievious bodily harm), two charges of threatening a person with a blade/sharply pointed article in a public place and two charges of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Police were called to the park shortly before 10.30am on Saturday after reports of a man in the park with a firearm.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 373 of August 15.
