Man dies following fatal crash on main road in South Yorkshire

A man in his twenties has died following a horrific car crash on a main road in South Yorkshire

Police said a grey Volkswagen Golf was travelling down Bawtry Road, Brinsworth, at around 12.40am on Sunday when it collided with the garden wall of a property and flipped onto its roof.

Police and paramedics attended the scene but the vehicle’s driver, a man in his twenties, was sadly pronounced dead. The passenger, another man in his twenties, was taken to hospital via ambulance with “serious injuries”, police said.

The driver’s family are currently being supported by specially trained officers, with police now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

They want to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash, especially anyone who has dash cam footage.

Bawtry Road was closed in both directions with diversions in place on Sunday morning following the incident.
