Man dies after horror smash on Rotherham road

Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal crash on a busy Rotherham road.

A 31-year-old man, who was the passenger of the car which crashed on the A631 Bawtry Road, Brecks last night, was taken to Rotherham District General Hospital, but was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “The driver of the vehicle, a 26 year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.”

Police say at 10:50pm on Saturday, December 21 a blue Volkswagen Polo left the carriageway before coming to rest on its side.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnesses the collision, or the vehicle prior to the collision, or anyone with dashcam footage who may have been in the area at the time.
