Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on January 31 how John Bagnall, aged 31, Goosecroft Avenue, Thrybergh, Rotherham, fell out with his ex-partner outside East Herringthorpe club, Rotherham, before he kicked her car.

Robert Coyne, prosecuting, said Bagnall had dropped their son off with his ex-partner and he gave her a lift to the club on December 22 where she had left her car.

But Mr Coyne added Bagnall became concerned when his ex-partner went into the club and he did not want to leave his son and an argument erupted and he kicked her car.

Bagnall pleaded guilty to causing damage.

Khateeb Riaz, defending, claimed Bagnall’s ex-partner had slapped him and kicked his car and he lost his temper.

Magistrates sentenced Bagnall to an 18-month conditional discharge and must pay £300 compensation, £85 costs and a £21 victim surcharge
