Man critically injured in Sheffield shooting remains in hospital

A man critically injured in a shooting in Sheffield remains in hospital today.

The 21-year-old was shot in his chest in Grimesthorpe Road, Burngreave, at around 2.30pm on Thursday, April 16.

Witnesses described shots being fired from one car towards another.

Two men seen shielding behind the car which was fired at were then seen pulling an injured man from the vehicle into a nearby garden, where he received emergency first aid until police and paramedics arrived to take over.

A nearby care home worker helped to keep the injured man alive as emergency services made their way to the crime scene.

Seven men detained at the scene were later released with no further action to be taken.

No arrests have yet been made.
