Man in court over series of axe robberies in Sheffield

A man is due in court today over a series of robberies in which an axe was brandished in Sheffield city centre.

Debesay Teklehaymanot, aged 18, of Ellerton Road, Firth Park, is accused of three armed robberies last week, including incidents on Trafalgar Street and Rockingham Street.

He has also been charged with possessing an offensive weapon.

He has been remanded into custody to appear before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday, September 3.
