Man in court accused of assaulting Sheffield police officers

A man is due in court today accused of assaulting two police officers in Sheffield.

Ismail Jama, aged 34, of Pye Bank Road, Burngreave, has been charged with two counts of assault against an emergency services worker, racially aggravated public order offences and criminal damage.

The charges relate to an incident on Spital Hill, Burngreave, yesterday, when officers responded to reports of concern for a man’s safety and were allegedly spat at and racially abused.

The suspect is due at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court.
