Sheffield Crown Court has heard during an on-going trial how dad-of-one Lewis Bagshaw, 21, was allegedly chased and stabbed twice in the chest on July 21, 2019, before he was found on Piper Crescent, near the Southey Green area, of Sheffield, and later died.

The four accused who deny murder include a 17-year-old boy, of no fixed abode, who cannot be named for legal reasons, Callum Ramsey, 18, of Batworth Drive, Shirecliffe, Jervaise Bennett, 20, of no fixed abode, and Nicki Humphrey, 42, of Avenue Grove, Harrogate.

Mr Bagshaw was allegedly murdered after a dispute arose following an alleged assault on Mr Bagshaw’s father Daniel Cutts in May, 2019, by the 17-year-old and Humphrey over a drugs dispute, according to Nicholas Campbell QC, prosecuting.

However, Ramsey told the court today, February 18, he did not know of any disagreement even after he had seen Lewis Bagshaw shouting at Mr Ramsey’s 17-year-old co-accused hours before his death.

Ramsey said: “We were really shocked. Baggy never goes off like that normally because he is normally a chilled guy.”

Ramsey said he and his co-accused were later in a BMW X5 driven by Humphrey when they parked on Piper Crescent and everyone apart from Humphrey got out talking behind a parked Vauxhall Corsa which included Lewis Bagshaw and others.

He claims the 17-year-old got out of the BMW before returning and he had seemed to be behaving normally.

However, Ramsey said Humphrey later told him and Bennett that the 17-year-old had stabbed Mr Bagshaw but he added that the 17-year-old also told him this was not true.

Ramsey said: “I was thinking there is no way he could have done that.”

The court has heard the 17-year-old was involved in drug-dealing and Humphrey was his driver.

Humphrey has also pleaded not guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent upon Mr Cutts. The 17-year-old has pleaded guilty to this same assault charge.

The trial continues.
