Man charged with assaulting police officers in Sheffield

A man has been charged with a string of offences including the theft of a van with a dog in the back.

Lee Stephen Fletcher, aged 39, of Stradbroke Road, Sheffield, is charged with theft of the van, driving without insurance and a licence, two burglaries and two counts of assaulting police officers.

He was apprehended after being involved in a collision with a bus and police car on Stradbroke Road, Woodhouse, on Monday - the same day in which a van, with a French bulldog in the back, was stolen from outside Abbeydale Park Sports Club, Abbeydale Road South.

Fletcher appeared at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on November 19.
