Man caught with knife at Sheffield railway station
A man has been caught with a knife during a crackdown on crime at Sheffield railway station.
Officers also detained a man wanted over an alleged robbery and a third man who had failed to attend court, during a crackdown on crime at the station.
South Yorkshire Police teamed up with British Transport Police for what officers called a ‘very fruitful’ day of action at the station on Thursday, May 21.
Acting Police Sergeant Paul Briggs said reduced crowds due to the coronavirus pandemic meant criminals continued to ‘stick out like the proverbial sore thumb’.
He added that another four people were caught with cannabis in the city centre, along with a man wanted for failing to appear at court for possession of drugs in 2017.
“We are all still out there folks, on the front line keeping you all safe,” he said.
